Joseph A. Grace, Jr.  President and Chief Executive Officer, Captain, United States Navy

Joseph A. Grace, Jr., is the founder of Grace and Associates, LLC, and presently serves as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Grace is a 1980 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and holds an MBA from the University of New Orleans.  He has just completed a recall to Active Duty and Mobilization for Operation Enduring Freedom, as the Chief Information Officer for Navy Medicine.  Upon demobilization he has returned to the Navy Reserve as the Special Projects Officer for the Deputy Surgeon General of the Navy, Reserve Component.  

Following graduation from the Naval Academy, Mr. Grace served as a nuclear submarine officer. In late 1988, after holding a variety of different positions within the submarine force, he left the active duty Navy to take a position with a Fortune 500 electronics firm in California, where he held various positions in sales and sales management, including selection as one of three National Sales Managers for a major division of the company.

In November of 1994, he came home to Louisiana, as the founding President of the New Orleans Technology Council, a technical trade association committed to transforming the Louisiana Technology Industry. During his tenure as President, the New Orleans Technology Council emerged as a technology leader for Louisiana and the Southern States and eventually became the Louisiana Technology Council (LTC). His recognized expertise in "Techonomic Development" helped to make the organization a model for innovation and excellence and has made Captain Grace a sought out speaker and expert on the pursuit of technology as an economic stimulus initiative.

In April of 2002, Captain Grace resigned his position as President of the LTC to operate and develop his own consulting practice, Grace and Associates, LLC, with the intent to work with both start-up and established companies, raise venture capital, prepare business plans, push legislative agendas, make introductions, create sales and marketing strategies, coach sales teams and to provide consulting services to a variety of clients. Captain Grace was also appointed as President and Chairman of the Board of Proxity Digital Networks, a company that he helped to develop as Louisiana's only publicly traded Internet Company. Since 2002 he has been instrumental in the creation of over 20 companies and has been selected to serve on multiple corporate boards and commissions.  He was also instumental in the founding of Cyber Defense Systems, another public company in the UAV / Airship manufacturing business.  He remains on the Board of Directors. 

Since leaving the Active Duty Navy in 1988, then Lieutenant Grace remained active the the Navy Reserve.  He has risen to the rank of Captain, USN.  Captain Grace has had a variety of other Assignments within the Navy Reserve.  In 1996 he was selected to facilitate the transformation of the Information Technology offices within the Navy Reserve.  He was instrumental in the development of the Office of the Chief Information Officer for the Navy Reserve and acted as an advisor, moderator and designer of the program.  

From 2001 - 2004 he was hand selected and assigned as a Special Projects Officer and Spokesperson for the Navy Marine Corps Intranet initiative (NMCI), the largest single network ever deployed.  Again, he was specifically recruited to motivate and engage senior leadership throughout the Navy and Marine Corps and to encourage them to embrace and implement this expansive network. During this process he met with each Command, every site and all vendors on the program as the key facilitator for the Director, NMCI.  While assigned to this role Captain Grace became the voice and lead promoter of NMCI. 

In September of 2004, he was hand picked by the Senior Leadership of the Navy Reserve and the Surgeon General of the Navy to be recalled to Active Duty on a special assignment as a Captain, USN. He has just completed a two year tour as the first Chief Information Officer for Navy Medicine, responsible for all Information Technology and Information Management of a 48,000 person Command, on land, sea and with the deployed Marine Forces. In that capacity, he was responsible for the management, policy and oversight of all business development and process for all Information Technology for Navy Medicine. He and his staff developed the first IM/IT strategic plan for Navy Medicine and consolidated all major business areas under one CIO. During his tenure his team established the organizational structure, policy and plans and execution strategy for all of Navy Medicine and transformed the enterprise in every way. Captain Grace was a direct report to the Surgeon General and was nominated as Department of Defense CIO of the Year by the Command. 

Although he has recently completed his active duty tour with Navy Medicine, he has been asked to continue in his his Reserve role as the Special Projects Officer for the Assistant Deputy Surgeon General of the Navy, Reserve Component, RADM Ben Gaumer.

Captain Grace has long been noted for exceptional customer-vendor team building, unlimited access, insightful trouble shooting of systems and process and highly acclaimed dynamic briefings that combine humor, articulate descriptions of the issues and high energy. He has had an extensive focus on business process, leadership, technology integration and partnerships.  Captain Grace has developed exceptional relationships and access at every level throughout the Department of Defense, commercial industry and state and local government.  He has an exceptional proven track record of success. He is always brought in as an idea man and change agent who has the creative talent and management expertise to transform any organization. 

Mr. Grace is an avid musician and toured as a recording artist in the late 1980's and early 1990's. In 1988 he released an award winning album, "Strong Enough To Be Gentle," on the Hawaii Artists and Grace Creations Record Label. He continues to write music for churches, a variety of clients and other promotional endeavors.

He is active on many Boards and Committees and is a recognized leader of the business community of Louisiana. He is a former Board Member of both the New Orleans Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson Parish Chamber of Commerce. His current community activities include:
